Neighbors express sympathy for family of two year old victim
SANDY, UT (ABC 4 News) – The death of a two-year-old boy in Sandy has neighbors expressing sympathy for the victim’s family and working through the shock of what happened on their street.
The boy was visiting Utah from Colorado and at his grandparent’s house at 8700 South and 500 East when he got a hold of a loaded gun and accidentally shot himself.
Leah Parcia says she feels awful for the parents of the little boy. She says seeing the little boy injured and on the stretcher was “probably the worst thing I have ever seen in my life.” She says the incident has her already watching her own children more closely.
Brittney Cobb was standing just a few feet away from Parcia as the emergency teams tried to save the little boy. “It gave me chills and it made me think - where are my kids.” Cobb says the shooting is “pretty scary” and confirmed her fear of guns.
Cobb says residents who live across the street in a small apartment complex plan on buying flowers for the family on Wednesday to express their sympathy show their support.
